Dr Pablo Sendra is an architect, urban designer, writer, researcher and educator. He is an Associate Professor at The Bartlett School of Planning, UCL. He is also director of LUGADERO LTD, an urban design practice that focuses on facilitating co-design processes with communities. He is also co-founder of the CivicWise network.
Westway Community Street
Lugadero was appointed as the Co-Design Team to facilitate the co-design process for the Westway Truts’s Community Street project.
Community Street is a project to restore and rehabilitate the public realm, green infrastructure and some buildings on the Westway Trust’s land.
Designing Disorder: Experiments and Disruptions in the City
A manifesto for the Open City: vibrant, disordered, adaptable: In 1970, Richard Sennett published the groundbreaking The Uses of Disorder, arguing that the ideal of a planned and ordered city was flawed. Fifty years later, Sennett returns to these still fertile ideas and, alongside campaigner and architect Pablo Sendra, sets out an agenda for the design and ethics of the Open City.

Play Wimbledon
A co-design process for re-imagining public spaces: In September 2014, Merton Council and Love Wimbledon, in collaboration with the Design Council, organised Future Wimbledon ideas competition, which call community organisations and professionals to propose a vision for the transformation of Wimbledon Town Centre for 2030, which coincided with the arrival of Crossrail 2 to Wimbledon Station.

A collective project promoted and coordinated by CivicWise community. Civic Practices have always existed. The most primitive forms of urbanisation emerged from self-organised communities to address their needs. Civic practices are not new, but new opportunities are emerging in this context of post-2008 Global Financial Crisis.
